It was great to see the
Lisa Madigan campaign for Attorney General at our Mikva Kick-Off event this past weekend. This is a young and fun campaign that is always excited to get students involved in campaigning and action civics. They would love to put some students to work on the phones or canvassing. Stop by the office at 500 N. Dearborn Suite 510 or contact their volunteer coordinator, kellan@lisamadigan.org or 312-670-0606. I have not gotten a chance to visit their campaign office yet so I have no fun personal photos, but hopefully the one above will give you the idea that it's a friendly happy place (I know this to be true).
Is there any information regarding the 8th district congressional race for either the Melissa Bean or the Joe Walsh campaigns? I'm sure there are many young people in this area who would be eager to participate in such a close race. Many Republicans are hoping to halt the funding of the overwhelming healthcare bill while Democrats are fighting to keep their seat to gain an advantage in the inevitable gerrymandering that will occur in the coming year. ReplyDeleteI believe this action by the youth is very influential in the world of politics. Not only does it give students the chance to participate in politics, but also learn what it takes for candidates to get elected and work towards their goal of representing their district or state. This conceived idea of the Mikva Challenge is a great resource for students or youth interested in politics. - Gabrielle R.
ReplyDeleteAllowing students to become involved in the political process is a great way to promote future interest in politics. The Mikva Challenge is not only granting students access to the political realm, but also getting the young people excited about their government. If the youth are educated and enthusiastic about politics now, only good things can come out of it in the future. -Katelyn L.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with the previous comments; any action that is aimed to educating the younger generations on politics should be encouraged. Bananaboy2299 poses an interesting question; the health care debate is something that is sure to become a heated issue in upcoming elections. -Kanisha P.
ReplyDeleteToday's youth is our future. As overused as this phrase may be, it does hold truth. Therefore, I feel that involving youngsters in political activities is a very wise move. Not only does it instigate political interest in youngsters, but it also informs the youth of important political issues such as foreign affairs, national health care and taxes. Informing the youth about such issues will encourage them to formulate their personal opinions, which they previously may have not formed due to inexposure. Such actions will secure an informed voter pool in future elections. -Priyanka V
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Priyanka, the kids of today are the future. I think it is a great idea getting the younger generations involved with what is going on around them. The more they learn now, the more they are aware of, the more apt they are to participating in politics later in their life. -Monique D.
ReplyDeleteAs a teenager interested in politics, I find this to be a great way to get involved before I am allowed to vote. The youth is our future, therefore allowing them to become involved in political activity at a young age will be beneficial to America's future. -Greg R
ReplyDeleteThis is a great opportunity to involve young adults who will soon be voting. This serves as a gateway for those young adults to make more informed decisions in respect to picking a candidate. The voting population needs to be educated on the who they are voting for and getting involved at is younger age is all the more beneficial.
