Project Vote Smart

This website is so much fun! Using great graphics Project Vote Smart has created a 2010-2011 voting guide. Based on your address, VS displays your candidates and tells you how each one feels about several issues. Not only does it use great graphics to display where each candidate 'stands' (literally), it also allows you to input how you feel about the issue and gives you a best match candidate. This is such an important way to learn about candidates. Often times we endorse a candidate because of a particular party affiliation without knowing exactly where they stand on the issues. Candidates do not always line up along  party lines on all issues. So navigate to this site and have fun while you learn (caution, there is a barking dog in the background noise so do not visit the site while in a quiet place i.e., a classroom).

  1. I thought this was a great way to get to know the candidates. I like how it categorized each candidate and it was very clear in stating what their stances on certain issues. It definitely educated me more on the issues that this election is dealing with.

  2. Wow, that is a pretty good website. Before going to this website I really didnt know that much about local politics and going to this website really informed me about what issues melissa bean stands for and what not. I'll definetley refer this to anyone who is planning on voting in this fall's election.

  3. As the online editor of my school newspaper, it's a real treat to come across outstanding websites such as this one. As more and more information moves online these days, media that is presented in an clean, effective manner is still(unfortunately)hard to come by. Also, being a self-described newcomer to the political realm, Project Vote Smart's easy-to-navigate presentation was a great learning tool. It was good for people like me, who know (most of the time) where they stand on certain political/ethical issues, but don't know what candidate can effectively voice their opinions. Now I know Mark Kirk and Joe Walsh are my guys. Overall, a brilliant learning tool, and one I will definitely share. Thanks for the link @mikvasuburban!

  4. This website is great because it is both informative and easily navigated. Although I have learned a lot about politics and the workings of government I have not learned a lot about specific candidates currently running or in office. This year I am going to be able to vote, so knowing these candidates will be increasingly important. I think that vote smart will be a great resource for concise and reliable information when I begin to really follow what is going on locally.
